IBUKU Catalog

This project involved designing a comprehensive catalog for a bamboo architecture studio known for its experimental structures and nature-integrated design philosophy. The publication needed to communicate the studio’s architectural work, process, and design values in a format that was both visually immersive and structurally clear.

The goal was to create a publication that functioned as both documentation and narrative. It needed to present complex architectural work in a way that felt cohesive, accessible, and aligned with the studio’s organic design language.

The Challenge

The primary challenge was translating spatial, material, and environmental experiences into a printed format. The studio’s work is highly dimensional and tactile, so the catalog needed to communicate atmosphere and structure through sequencing, typography, and layout rather than relying on imagery alone.

The content included multiple project types, varying image scales, technical information, and descriptive text. The publication required a system that could organize diverse material while maintaining visual continuity across the entire book.

The Objective

  • Create a clear and consistent editorial structure

  • Balance unique imagery with readable information

  • Reflect the studio’s organic design philosophy through layout and typography

  • Ensure the publication could scale across multiple projects and sections

  • Design a system that supports both narrative flow and reference use
